Terms of service

DraftThese are the current binding terms for the Locals pilot (version pilot-4). They are undergoing final legal review and may be refined; you will be asked to accept any updated version.

Locals is an early, invite-only pilot. By using the service you accept these terms. Translations are provided for convenience; if versions differ, the English text controls.

The service

Locals gives coaches a studio to organize surf-session videos and feedback, and to share private, read-only reports with their surfers via personal links. It is a video-feedback tool — not training supervision, not safety instruction, and not a coaching service. Coaches are independent professionals using the tool; Locals does not provide, employ, or supervise coaching.

Pilot status and known risks

Locals is a pilot, provided free for evaluation. Bugs, downtime, data loss, and changed or removed features are expected characteristics of a pilot, not defects. Risks you accept: content may become temporarily or permanently unavailable — keep your own copies of anything important; links can stop working when revoked or regenerated; uploads can fail on poor connections; some phone video formats may not play on every device; our hosting providers may have outages we do not control; data from the pilot may not carry over to any future version; the pilot may be paused or ended at any time. Anything described as planned or “coming soon” — on our website, in the app, or in any other communication — is a statement of current intent, not a commitment: those features may change, be delayed, or never ship, and you should not rely on them.

Accounts and eligibility

Account holders must be 18 or older during the pilot. Coach accounts are provisioned by invitation under a separate signed agreement; surfer accounts are created through a coach's invitation link. Keep your credentials safe and tell your coach or us about suspected misuse. Access to this free service may be suspended or ended by us at any time, in particular on misuse of links, credentials, or these rules.

Content, permissions and your consent

Coaches upload only their own coached sessions, must have the permission of every person they film before uploading, and remain responsible for their content; during the pilot all filmed participants are adults (18+). Surf lessons are group events: your footage may incidentally include other students of your coach, and theirs may include you. By accepting these terms you consent to Locals processing videos of you that your coach uploads, in order to show you your reports. You may withdraw that consent at any time via your coach — the content will be removed. The app enforces this: a student's date of birth is required at registration, and anyone under 18 cannot be added.

Links are personal

Report links are private and intended for you. Do not post them publicly or pass them to people who should not see the footage. Coaches and the platform can revoke links at any time.

Forecasts and informational content

Forecasts, spot data, board-size suggestions, and technique videos are informational only. They may be inaccurate or out of date, and they are not safety advice or instruction. Always judge real conditions yourself; decisions in the water are yours.

Acceptable use and intellectual property

The Locals service — its software, screens, design, texts, graphics, brand, and the way it works — is the platform's intellectual property. You receive only a personal right to use the service; copying, reproducing, imitating, or reusing any part of it, in whole or in part, is prohibited and may expose you to legal liability. Do not attempt to access other people's data, probe or test the service's security, scrape it or access it with automated tools, or reverse-engineer it. Report security issues or abuse through your coach until a platform contact address is published here.

Liability

The service is provided as-is, free of charge. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is capped at NIS 1,000. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for bodily harm.

Changes, wind-down and contact

We may update these terms; you will be asked to accept the new version before continuing to use your account. If the pilot ends, published reports remain readable for a wind-down period before links are revoked, unless content must be removed for legal or safety reasons. To have data corrected or deleted, or to leave the pilot, contact your coach; removal requests are acknowledged within 24 hours on business days. Your coach can escalate any request to the service operator.
